Hello friends! Well, I bet most of you have heard the buzz by now, but if you haven't, I finally get to spill the beans! My sweet friend, Lesley Croghan, is starting a new challenge beginning in January 2014 and guess what ...
... I have been invited to create for the inaugural the card Concept design team in the 'Shabby Chic' category ... LOVE!!! For those of you unfamiliar with the guidelines surrounding the Shabby Chic esthetic, here you go:
Shabby Chic and Vintage
Definition:
the use of used, worn or inexpensive components to make stylish goods
distressed or sponged edges
old feel-antiqued
lots of embellishments
ribbons or lace
lots of layers
Those that know me well, already know that I adore anything shabby, old, worn and antique! YUM! I enjoy going to antique shows and finding old treasures to add to my cards and paper crafted projects! I love piling my creations high with lots of bits and bobs of sweet little treasures -- creating keepsakes suitable for framing in some instances!
Let's go through the shabby checklist, shall we? Used, worn, inexpensive components - check! Distressed or sponges layers - I inked mine with vanilla paint - check! Old/antique feeling with lots of embellishments - check! Ribbons or lace - check! Lots of layers - check!
A huge thank you to Miss Lesley for inviting me to join the line-up of talented designers who will be creating for The Card Concept challenges! The glittered Santa hat is a tag from Target and the gorgeous papers are October Afternoon - Make it Merry ... LOVE!!!
I stamped the circle sentiment using the *new* Season of Love set and then stamped the sentiment on the banner tag using the *new* Ho Ho Ho set! Tomorrow is the 13th and so that only means one thing ... the Sweeties Teamies will be sharing lots of wonderful ideas for all your holiday paper crafting needs using the newly released stamps, dies, chenille candy canes and rusty jingle bells! A couple of additions of some yummy bits and bobs ... delicious lace trim, a pretty aqua button, two sweet red jingle bells and some baker's twine complete this fun little card!
Well, it was exactly one week ago today that we were in Hampton, VA at the Stamp Scrap Art Tour show introducing the Paper Sweeties stamps, dies and goodies to the wonderful people who attended this awesome show!
We met so many wonderful paper crafters at the show!
We enjoyed introducing all the attendees to the Paper Sweeties products!
We brought loads of inspiration to the show with us: layouts ...
... gifts ...
... tags and cards ... oh my!
Our sweet 'dollhouse' shaped displays with coordinating shutters were a hit with the show attendees ... we got so many sweet and thoughtful comments that just made my heart smile!
We offered two free make and take projects within our booth that were a hit! Saturday we had a line six ladies deep from 10 am - 3 pm waiting to create the projects and check out with their new goodies from Paper Sweeties!
We had a fantastic booth spot in the first row directly across from the doors where you enter the convention hall!
A HUGE thank you to my friend, Suzi, for attending the show with me to lend a hand. I couldn't have done it without all of her help and support!
Suzi oversaw the make and take projects and facilitated the check out process by running all the credit cards and packing up all the sales in our bags with curling ribbon!
Look at this sweet customer ... can you see the THREE bags of goodies she purchased at the Paper Sweeties booth?!? I had to snap a picture with her when I saw that her bag coordinated with our booth color palette!
A fun time was had by all!
Suzi and I capped Saturday evening off by enjoying a delicious seafood dinner down by the water! The perfect ending to a perfect day!

Yippiee ... it's FINALLY HERE! Today is a BIG, BIG ... BIG day here at Paper Sweeties! First, today is Paper Sweeties' official 1st BIRTHDAY! Exactly one year ago today, the first Paper Sweeties stamps were launched on our shiny and brand new website! Boy, what a fast and fun year it has been!
Next, my very sweet friend, Suzi, and I are beginning our excellent road trip adventure today -- headed to Charlotte, NC for the amazing Creating Keepsakes Convention! I can't thank my friend 'enough' for volunteering to go with me to help out in the booth this weekend ... I am truly blessed with such wonderful, caring, generous and thoughtful friends! I just 'know' there will be a lot of giggling, late night girlie pajama parties, yummy meals out ... and tons of CRAFY FUN this weekend! I'm looking forward to seeing many of the Paper Sweeties fans at the show ... and can't wait to make some new friends too! I'll be back here next week to share photos from the show ... stay tuned 🙂
I also have a group of gals that I stamp with each month attending the show for a girls' weekend - Joanie, Megan, Martha and Cindy ... what FUN we'll all have together!!

Paper Sweeties is pleased to introduce: SWEET CUTS ... steel metal dies to coordinate with the Paper Sweeties acrylic stamps! Whooo hoooo! I've been keeping this little news under my hat for a couple weeks while all the logistics were worked out, but today's the day I can finally share this exciting news with all of you! Today, for phase one of our steel metal die launch, we are introducing four Sweet Cuts metal dies to coordinate with the four paper dolls we currently offer - Abigail, Emma, Jake and Sophie!
Sweet Cuts dies will help you create fun cards, adorable scrapbook pages, sweet treats and pretty little gifts lickity split -- stamp, cut, decorate and ENJOY! The Sweet Cuts dies are wonderful for little hands too -- they allow for easy 'mommy and me' craft projects -- no fussing cutting for little hands or asking mom to cut out for them!!

For today's 'Sew So-Simple' challenge at The Kraft Journal, I created a little quilt out of paper -- and it was sew so-simple! I followed a pattern found on the internet, cutting little squares from patterned paper and card stock and then cutting the squares into half square triangles to create the pattern. I began with a base of Buff Ivory Card Stock onto which I added a couple layers of colored card stock. I popped the quilt pattern layer up with dimensionals and added two Tiny Wooden Clothespins to 'hang' the quilt on.
